Mclaren reveals first 2021 challenger

Mclaren has become the first team to reveal its 2021 car on a livestream held form the MTC.

The new car called the MCL35M features a similar livery to last year with a papaya orange and blue base coat with black highlights and a now smaller ‘We Race As One’ rainbow.

While the car design isn’t much of a departure from last year there is still some significant changes for the team this year. First off they have a new line up, after Sainz left the team to take Vettel’s place at Ferrari, Daniel Riccardo joins the team from Renault. The Aussie has collected 7 race wins and and 31 podiums over his 10 year career and is expected to take the team to more consistent podiums and wins. He will partner Lando Norris who is entering his third season with Mclaren.

The biggest change is the engine as the British outfit has continued with its return to Mercedes engines despite the delay in 2021 technical regulations to 2022. Mclaren last used Mercedes engines in 2014 after a 19 year partnership with the teams last win coming in 2012.
