The FIA has confirmed that F2 driver and Renault F1 junior Anthoine Hubert has passed away following a horror crash in the F2 feature race at Spa.

The 22 year old Frenchman got caught up in an incident at the top of eau rouge on lap 2 of the feature race. As Giuliano Alesi lost control of his car at Raidillon Hubert was hit by Juan Manuel Correa causing a red and the session to be cancelled.
It was later confirmed that Hubert died from his injuries at 6:35 local time while Juan Manuel Correa remains in hospital but in a stable condition.

Hubert was 8th in the F2 standings having won two races this season at France and Monaco (pictured).
As a result of Hubert’s death The F2 sprint race for tomorrow has been cancelled.
