After much speculation Formula one has confirmed the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’ will return for a second season in 2020.
The series, which debuted earlier this year, follows the behind the scenes of F1 over the course the season with interviews from team owners, management and drivers.
Notable moments from the first season include the decline and rescue of the Force India team as well as Gunther Steiner’s relentless use of swear words when Haas struggled to perform.
And the Haas team is expected to be the star of the series again with the recent turmoil over the Rich Energy sponsorship.
Director of Media rights at F1, Ian Holmes said:
“We are thrilled to once again be working with Netflix on the second series of Drive to Survive.
“It is a truly unique series which allows fans to see the unseen side of F1, showcasing the personalities and emotions each team and driver goes through, both on and off the grid.
“Drive to Survive has enabled us to reach a entire new fan base globally and partnering with Netflix for a second season ensures we are continuing to put fans at the heart of what we do and make the sport more open and accessible to all.”
The series is part of Liberty Media’s continuous push to engage new fans and appeal to a younger audience in comparison to the previous owners where Bernie Ecclestone infamously said he did believe young fans mattered.
