Tatiana Calderon is has been announced as Sauber test driver with the as she continues her road to F1.
The 24-year-old Colombian was development driver for the Suber last year, completing simulator work alongside her GP3 season.
But it has now been announced that she will be promoted to test driver and although the full details of the deal are unknown, she is expected to drive some F1 machinery for the first time as part of the role.
“I will test an F1 car, a former F1 car. The details we are still finalising.” Said Calderon.
“But I think it’s also in my hands to show the team I’m capable of taking more steps and we’ll see what the future holds. I want to give my best to keep opening these doors.”
Sauber boss Frederic Vasseur added:
“Tatiana is a very hard-working person, who has impressed the team with her focus and dedication. She has made good progress as a driver, developing both her mental and physical capacities continuously over the past few years.
“We look forward to having Tatiana on board for our first chapter as the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team.”
Calderon will combine this new role with the third season in GP3 for Jenzer Motorsport.
