Mercedes has unveiled it’s 2018 F1 challenger the W09 in a live online launch.
The car was teased earlier in Thursday during a filming day at the Silverstone track.
It will be driven by 4-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas as both fight for their fifth and first championships respectively.
One of the main topics of discussion at the launch was the new halo protection device with team boss Toto Wolff saying:
“I’m not impressed with the whole thing.”
“If you give me a chainsaw, I would take it off. We need to look after the drivers’ safety but what we have implemented is aesthetically not appealing.
“We need to tackle that and come up with a solution that looks better. It’s a massive weight on top of the car, you screw up the centre of gravity massively with that thing.”
Mercedes this year is expected to be up against some serious competition with Ferrari and Red Bull expected to improve and Mclaren and Renault making their way up the grid.
