Honda junior and F2 driver Nobuharu Matsushitais is set to drive for Sauber on day 2 of the post-Hungary test.
The young Japanese will join Gustav Malja who will run on the first day of the test.
Matsushita currently drives for in F2 for ART which is run by new Sauber boss Frederic Vasseur who recently replaced Monisha Kaltenborn.
“I am pleased that Nobuharu has this great opportunity. He deserves the experience of his first test in a Formula 1 car.” Vasseur said.
“Ever since his debut in Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix, I have been following his progress closely, and have watched him advance his performance from year to year. With this Formula 1 test, he comes one step closer to his dream of becoming an F1 driver one day.”
However, he is still a Honda junior and so it could indicate that the Sauber-Hinda engine deal is still on if not complete.
