Formula 2 championship leader Charles Leclerc has been given the chance to test the 2017 Ferrari car at one of the two post-Hungary test days.
Leclerc (who is a member of the Ferrari young drivers Academy) is currently leading the F2 standings by 67 points, after winning 5 races, so far, in his debut season.
Although not confirmed by Ferrari, it has sparked rumours about what will happen with Leclerc next year. And given neither Vettel or Raikkonen have a contract yet for 2018. there is speculation he could move straight to a race seat next year.
This, alongside Haas FP1 outings with Haas, will give Ferrari the opportunity to evaluate the 19 year old’s feedback and ability in these new cars.
