Formula 1 returns home for the 2017 British Grand Prix, the place where it all started back in 1950.

It’s also home to nearly all the teams with Mercedes, Red Bull, Mclaren, Force India, Williams, Haas and Renault all being either fully or partly based in the UK.

It’s also my home race and one I would love to go see one day.

Anyway back to this year, well is Britain so expect rain to be very much on the cards a through the weekend as well as a very feisty Lewis Hamilton hoping to make a comeback from his recent woes on home soil.

Speaking of which Hamilton is on a roll here having won the last 3 races he’ll be looking to make it 4/4 (no pun intended).

2016 British Grand Prix, Friday

Last year started very very wet. To the point that it was a safety car start with wets. However, even the wet tyres weren’t enough for the weather.

So far it looks like it will be dry for this race but this is Britain and anything can happen.

After the restart, many drivers went for inters but still struggled, and when the slicks came out people were going off left, right and centre even Hamilton came up a cropper the slippery conditions.

As was speculated in Austria, any rain could help the Red Bull boys who are still lacking in straight line speed. They didn’t do bad last year finishing 2nd and 4th for Verstappen and Ricciardo respectively.

Someone who definitely will be hoping to do well is Jolyon Palmer. Off the back of 4 11th places and having gotten ver closer each time it would a dream result to get his first points of the season in front of the home crowd.

Williams also will hope to impress and with their famously high drag cars, they might be in contention especially with such high-speed corners as Stowe, Maggotts & Becketts and Copse to name a few.

Either way Formula 1 is coming home and it’s gonna be a cracker.

Top 5 prediction

  2. Vettel
