Pirelli have dropped their hard tyre compound after confirming the tyre will not be used in Japan.
After the Spanish grand prix it became clear that the orange walled tyre was not usable on the new cars. That plus the fact the wider tyres mean even the ultra soft can go almost a full race distance means the tyre has been dropped from all remaining races.
The other races it was supposed to appear at include Silverstone (Britain), Sepang (Malaysia), Suzuka (Japan) and Interlagos (Brazil).
Pirelli confirmed earlier this year the tyre would not show in Silverstone, Sepang and Interlagos. With Japan the only race to be confirmed.
Although compounds for Malaysia and Brazil have yet to be announced, the hard will not feature.
“I can confirm, no hards for the rest of the season,” a Pirelli spokesman told Motorsport.com
