Former F1 driver Jenson Button will make his debut in the Super GT series with Honda. The Brit will race in the prestigious Suzuka 1000KM race with team mates Hideki Mutoh and Daisuke Nakajima for the Mugen team.
This year will be the 46th and final running if the Suzuka race as Hon da will try to get their first win in the series since September of 2015.
Mclaren junior driver Olivier Turvey competed in the event for Honda last year, where he claimed pole position.
“After driving an NSX Concept-GT at the Honda Racing Thanks Day last December, I became interested in racing in Super GT,” said Button.
“I spoke with Honda and they have given me the chance to race at the Suzuka 1000km. As an F1 driver and a member of Team Mugen, I will push to win.
“I am very much looking forward to racing in front of my Japanese fans again.”
Button will test the NSX-GT in Suzuka next week.
