Sauber will put F2 driver Gustav Malja in their C36 car for one of the 2 scheduled in-season test days post- Hungary grand prix.
The Swede made his debut in the then GP2 series last year where he finished 13th for the Italian Rapax team. He then moved to Spanish team ‘Racing Engineering’ for 2017 and claimed his first podium of the year in Monaco, currently 9th in the standings.
Sauber principle Monisha Kaltenborn said: “It will be a great opportunity for Gustav to make another step in his racing career and to fulfill his childhood dream.
“We have followed him in previous years, especially last year in the GP2 Series, where he consistently made progress.”
“The prospect of driving a Formula 1 car is exceptionally thrilling, and a childhood dream come true. I can’t wait to experience that sensation; I’m sure it will be a very surreal moment.” Said Malja
