Barcelona test 2, Day 4 round up

And so 2017’s pre-season testing comes to an end and boy was it a good one.

Today we say records broken yet again as the Ferrari of Kimi Riakkonen became the first car to break the 1:19 barrier with a time of 1:18.634, almost half a second quicker than team mate Vettle manged yesterday and on slower tyres!
And yet The Finn still claims that he could have gone even faster. It wasn’t plain sailing for the SF70H though, briefly bringing out the red flags in the afternoon session.Riakkonen was almost one second faster than next best Max Verstappen who himself had problems, a turbo failure bringing his RB13 to a stop and costing the team track time.

A very good day for Red Bull’s sister team Toro Rosso with Sainz getting up to third fastest and completing a productive 132 laps.

The two Mercedes were next, Bottas beating team mate Lewis Hamilton having completed one less lap at 53.

Hulkenberg seemed pleased with his morning the last driver to do a sub 1:20 lap time but only 45 laps were done in the RS17.
Team mate Palmer however just 43 laps finishing in eighth.

Perez was back in the car today. He split the Renault cars completing 128 laps in the VJM10.
The Williams of Stroll also made an apperance getting more much needed mileage in 132 laps to be precise.

Next came the Haas of Romain Grosjean, ye VF17’s running brought to an early end after a water leak appeared on the car after 76 laps putting The Frenchman in tenth.

But whatever problems other teams are having Mclaren always seem to have it worse. Alonso having many stoppages yet again meaning the team go into the new season having not completed a full race distance. The Woking based team are now also bottom of the leader boards for laps completed over the whole winter test.

The Saubers of Ericsson and Wehrlein came last in 12th and 13th respectively, the latter getting the fewest laps on the final day.

Just 2 weeks now till the new F1 season starts in Melbourne, Australia .

Final standing for test 2, day 4 are as follows
